The Cocoon · Our shared agreements
Intimacy Guidelines
We want every participant to be able to enter any shared public space within and outside the hotel at any time without encountering sexual situations that may feel overwhelming, triggering or excluding.
Our Shared Intention
We aim to create a space where:
- Everyone feels welcomed and included in all areas of the retreat.
- Personal boundaries are respected and communicated.
- Intimacy can unfold consciously and with care.
- Participation is always a choice, never an expectation.
Public vs. Private Spaces
To ensure that all participants feel comfortable and safe moving freely throughout the retreat:
- Sexual activity is not allowed in public spaces such as the pool, the hotel's public areas (like the bar, restaurant, hallways e.g.) or the hotel beach.
- Sexuality may be expressed in private rooms and designated “Love Rooms”.
- Sexual activity may also be part of specifically marked workshops and open formats.
What We Define as Sexual Activity
Sexual activity includes:
- Penetration
- Oral sex
- Intentional stimulation of the genitals
- Practices such as spanking, bondage and power play
Designated Workshops & Open Formats
Some workshops and open formats may include explicit sexual content or practices.
- These formats will be clearly marked in the program.
- By entering these spaces, you acknowledge and consent to being present in an environment where sexually explicit activities may take place.
- Your participation in any activity within these formats is always optional and requires clear consent.
Love Rooms
Love Rooms are designated private spaces where sexuality can be expressed outside the workshop / open format containers.
- Love Rooms can be reserved, for your spontaneous or planned intimate encounters.
- These are especially helpful as you might share a room with people you are not sexual with, you meet someone at the festival, you want to meet with other people outside of your own personal space of your own hotel room etc.
- They are run self-responsible and with your own care for safety and cleanliness.
- Safer-sex supplies will be provided.
- You can reserve a Love Room by adding your nickname to the sign-up sheet on the door.
- Maximum use is 2 hours.
- If you no longer intend to use your reserved time, please remove your name so the room becomes available to others.
- Please take responsibility for cleanliness. Blankets are not provided and bed linen must be changed by the people using the room. Leave the room as you found it.
- What happens inside a Love Room is the responsibility of the people using it. The same principles of consent, awareness and respect that apply throughout The Cocoon also apply here.
- The Cocoon has no responsibility for the safety and happenings within the Love Rooms.
Nudity
Nudity is welcome in certain spaces and contexts:
- At the pool
- At the beach
- Within designated workshops and open formats
- Nudity itself is not considered sexual activity.
Consent & Awareness
Consent is essential in every interaction. For this reason, participation in one of the three Consent Workshops on the first day is mandatory.
- A clear “yes” or “no” must always be respected.
- Silence or passivity is not consent.
- Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
- Stay aware of your own boundaries, needs and possibilities as well as those of others.
- If you experience or witness uncomfortable, intrusive or boundary-crossing behavior or a consent violation, please contact the Cocoon Team.
Boundaries with Hotel Staff & External Visitors
- Sexual interaction with hotel staff is not permitted.
- Only registered Cocoon participants and Cocoon Team members are part of the retreat.
- External visitors — including friends, partners and family members — are not allowed to enter the hotel during the retreat.
Grounds for Exclusion
To protect the safety and integrity of the retreat, The Cocoon reserves the right to exclude participants from the retreat in cases of:
- Repeated violations of our agreements or these Intimacy Guidelines
- Physical violence or non-consensual sexual activity
- Repeated intrusive, boundary-crossing or non-consensual behavior
